CPR + First Aid Certification and Training

Class detailing how to respond to a critical life-saving emergency. This course teaches skills so that you can be prepared to assess a scene with safety and respond promptly to a person suffering a medical episode until an ambulance and qualified EMS arrive.

You will be learning how and when to determine if help is needed, including the warning signs of heart attack and stroke. 

Class concludes with your National CPR/AED First Aid Certification.

Materials for these classes will be provided by us.

Classes consists of:   

• First Aid Basics – How and when to determine if first aid is needed 
• Medical Emergencies – Topics covered include breathing problems such as asthma, choking, tongue and airway obstruction, allergic reactions, heart attacks and cardiac arrest.  
• How to tell the difference between fainting, diabetes and low blood sugar, stroke, seizures and shock.  
• Injury Emergencies – Topics covered are internal and external bleeds caused by a wide range of traumas including head, neck and spine injuries, broken bones and sprains, burns, and electrical injuries.  
• How to properly handle dressings, bandages, splints and tourniquets will be taught and supplied to improve upon during this class. 

We will also be discussing Disaster Response and the cause and effects of different types of widespread emergencies such as Natural Disasters, Technological Disasters, Social Disasters, and Complex Disasters.  

In this portion of the class, you will learn the purpose, functionality, and use of an AED on a person experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. 

Having access to an AED and knowing how to use one is critical.  

Every second counts. 

You will learn:  

• Crucial protocols and procedures to follow.  
• The importance of CPR, defibrillation, advanced life support, adequate airway care, and internal emergency response system. 
• Proper use, maintenance, and periodic inspection of an AED.  
• Locations of AEDs in event of cardiac arrest.  
• Overview of the local EMS system, including 9-1-1 access, and interaction with EMS. 
• Assessment of an unconscious patient to include evaluation of airway, breathing, and circulation, to determine if cardiac arrest has occurred and the appropriateness of applying and activation of an AED.  
• Information relating to defibrillator safety precautions to enable the individual to administer socks without jeopardizing the safety of the patient or the authorized individual or other nearby persons to include, but not limited to:  

1) Age and weight restrictions for the use of the AED.  

2) Presence of water or liquid on or around the victim.  

3) Presence of transdermal medications, implanted pacemakers or automatic implanted cardioverter-defibrillators.  

• Recognition that an electrical shock has been delivered to the patient and that the defibrillator is no longer charged.  
• Rapid, accurate assessment of the patient’s post-shock status to determine if further activation of the AED is necessary.  
• Authorized individuals' responsibility for continuation of care, such as the repeated shocks if necessary, and/or accompaniment to the hospital, if indicated, or until the arrival of professional medical personnel.  

At the conclusion and successful completion of this course, you will be a Certified authorized individual who is eligible to use an AED on an appropriate patient.
